RK Barbearia
Overview A custom-built scheduling and management platform for barbershops. Moving away from rigid, off-the-shelf solutions, the system offers complete real-time autonomy to clients, while providing the owner with a robust administrative dashboard for operational and financial control.
Context
RK Barbearia was experiencing the typical operational bottlenecks of manual scheduling via WhatsApp: scheduling conflicts, constant interruptions during haircuts, and missed booking opportunities outside of business hours. The business also lacked a professional digital storefront to centralize its portfolio and social proof.
The challenge
The objective was to architect a Mobile-First application that fully automated the end-to-end booking flow. The core of the challenge involved building a high-precision calendar engine to prevent double bookings, which required processing:
The automatic mapping and calculation of the schedule based on the variable duration of each specific service.
The dynamic configuration of business days, lunch breaks, and manual blocks for time off.
Bidirectional, real-time state synchronization between the public interface and the admin dashboard.
What was built
Reactive Architecture & Typing: Frontend developed with React 19 and TypeScript, ensuring stability, code predictability, and a seamless, stutter-free interface.
Real-Time Infrastructure: Integrated with Firebase (Firestore) for data persistence. Any new appointment or cancellation is instantly reflected across all connected devices.
Availability Engine: Built a complex time-slot algorithm using
date-fns, cross-referencing the barber's schedule, service execution times, and blocked periods to render only mathematically valid time slots to users.Management & Autonomy: Implemented an administrative dashboard with secure authentication (Firebase Auth), including an end-of-day closing module that calculates gross revenue. For the public interface, I created a management system using a "Locator Code" (Código Localizador), allowing clients to check or cancel their appointments with total autonomy, eliminating the friction of password creation.
PWA Ecosystem & Social Proof: Configured the application as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for native-like mobile installation. Added a direct synchronization module to fetch real Google My Business reviews and integrated an Instagram gallery.
Outcome
Operational Scalability: Approximately 90% reduction in time spent on manual scheduling negotiations via WhatsApp.
24/7 Lead Capture: Increased schedule occupancy rates by automatically receiving bookings outside of regular business hours.
Reliability: Absolute elimination of double-booking errors through rigorous validation on both the client side and the database.
Conversion & Retention: Centralizing reviews and providing an app-like experience significantly increased brand trust and facilitated customer base retention.
