PRINCESS QUEEN TO THE RESCUE

This game was developed by three friends for our first game jam, created in Godot with visuals and gameplay inspired by the NES. It wasn't perfect, but we delivered our best within the deadline and learned a lot in the process. It's a retro platformer focused on precision, simple challenges, and 8-bit aesthetics.

Context

This game was developed by me and two friends as our first experience in a game jam. We created everything using Godot, but always with the goal of reproducing the feel of a classic NES title, both aesthetically and in terms of gameplay. The idea was simple: a retro platformer with precise controls, 8-bit visuals, and a total focus on the mechanics of jumping and using the grappling hook to navigate the challenges of the scenarios.

Participating in the jam was a significant challenge. We didn't deliver the best possible game, but we delivered what we could within the time and limitations. We made mistakes in several areas, adjusted what could be adjusted, and learned a lot in the process. What we valued most was the experience of creating together, having to decide quickly, cut ideas, and maintain a realistic scope. In the end, we were proud of the result and how much we evolved during development. The game represents this process: simple, direct, with a retro spirit, and created with dedication.
